Open any window that has not been detailed in a few years and look down. The channel it slides in is the one part of the window that only opens up when the window does.
What ends up in a track
Grit, dust, dead bugs, leaf litter, and on some windows, moss growing in the channel. You cannot get at all of it with the window half open, which is why a quick wipe along the sill never quite does it.

Why it is its own service
Exterior window cleaning covers the panes, frames and sills, and interior window cleaning does the same inside. Track detailing is the one where the window comes apart. That is a different job, so it is quoted as one rather than folded quietly into somebody else's.
How it is done
Open it up, clean it out, put it back. That is the whole service in Aaron's own words, and the order is the point.
- Open it up. The window goes all the way open, then any sliding panes and the track insert come out. That is what puts the whole channel within reach.
- Vacuum. The loose material comes out first: grit, dust, leaf litter, whatever has blown in and settled over the years.
- Scrub the track clean. What the vacuum will not lift gets scrubbed, along the channel and into the corners, where it packs in hardest.
- Put everything back. The track insert goes back in, the panes go back in, and the window closes up the way we found it. Putting it back together is part of the job.
How to tell whether it was done
A clean track is the one thing that cannot be faked. Either somebody opened the window and got into the corners, or they did not. It is why tracks keep turning up in our reviews.
He meticulously wiped down edges, frames, and tracks, making sure every inch was spotless. He caught little smudges and streaks I never would have noticed.
